The Center's art gallery Art Beyond Boundaries will celebrate the opening of it's newest exhibit Summer Madness at an opening reception on Friday, May 23, 2008 from 6-9 pm.  Meet the artists and enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres. This exhibit features over 20 regional artists with disabilities and will run through July 4, 2008.  The gallery is located at 1410 Main Street in historic Over-the-Rhine.  Call 513/421-8726 for additional information.

Wednesday, October 15, 2008 will provide students with disabilities the opportunity to job shadow someone in their chosen career.  Students are selected on the basis of their applications  A morning of job shadowing will be followed by a luncheon celebration sponsored by Fifth Third Bank-Project Search.

The Accessibility for All/ADA Celebration Coalition celebrates the 18^th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with an event in Cincinnati on Thursday, July 17, 2008.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Piatt Park, 1 Garfield Place, Cincinnati, OH 45202.  The event is an opportunity for people with all types of disabilities to come together in one place to celebrate the ADA and unite to see the promise of this civil rights legislation realized.  The event also includes: disability oriented organizations and businesses with information and resource tables, voter registration, accessible voting machine demonstrations by the Hamilton County Board of Elections, a proclamation from the county, and remarks by community leaders.   There is no charge to attend this event.

July 17 is the second time this coalition of diverse disability groups has united to bring together people with all types of disabilities.  The Coalition hopes to grow the event each year and have a parade on the 20^th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 2010. The purpose of the ADA is to establish a clear and comprehensive prohibition of discrimination on the basis of disability. About 20 disability organizations are represented in the Coalition.  According to the 2006 American CommunitySurvey, there are more than 120,000 people with disabilities in Hamilton County.
